Wait, I thought the "Castle in the Sky" saying had a negative connotation ?
A phrase or colloquialism which is a reference to the full metaphor "[He/She] has built castles in the sky but lives in squalor on the ground." This is usually intended to be a criticism of any person who has a rich imagination but does not benefit from it in any measurable or practical way. As an example: A "starving artist". It is to say that a person's reality is quite different from their imagined life.
People think it's a nice name for a service ?

When your booted into os x, go into system preferences find start up disk then click on the Macintosh HD icon ( it will tell you what OS is on the drive ) then click restart. That will set the boot order.
Or do a PRAM reset that will also clear it and default the OS X partition to be the start up one.

Would you recommend any of the cleaning compounds to remove the old thermal paste or can I just give it a scrub?
Several suppliers sell a kit of arctic silver 5 & cleaner like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Arctic-Silver-5-ArctiClean-Thermal-remover-puri-/160548177539?pt=Computing_ComputerComponents_Fans_Heatsinks_SR&hash=item25616ac683#ht_1338wt_1141
Worthwhile?
In my experience paste can easily be whipped off without cleaner. On the CPU itself I use my finger after touching metal to ground myself. I don't trust chemical cleaners on my computer components no matter how good they claim to be. One wipe with each of about 3 fingers gets it all off. Make sure you wash your hands before and after doing that.
For the heatsink I would use a kleenex made just slightly damp with warm water. The dampness should be so minimal that you can't even squeeze one drop out of it. If any faint bits are left on the chip itself you can use the same barley damp kleenex technique. Do both with the kleenex folded into a small square and be sure to use very little force on the CPU. I have been doing exactly this for years.

Weren't they made aware of this almost a year ago? That's a long time to address an oversight.
A book was written in 2010 called iOS Forensic Analysis which talked about it. You can read the pages about the consolidated.db here (http://books.google.com/books?id=kPrzs04YFcwC&pg=PR14&dq=ios+forensics&hl=en&ei=blu4TYvBJdSUtwf1iNHeBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CEQQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=consolidated.db&f=false). That's what Levinson (http://alexlevinson.wordpress.com/2011/04/21/3-major-issues-with-the-latest-iphone-tracking-discovery/)is calling the new 'researchers' out about.
So the question is, did anyone in a position of power at Apple read that book? And if so, did it hit them that it might become an issue? Obviously it never hit the developer who did it :)
Actually the recent news about the location db is a completely unrelated issue.
The db is what's being talked about, because it's the cache.
2. Your phone dynamically creates a local cache of known cell tower locations in order to aid in GPS triangulation (the "a" in aGPS). This is the recent hot topic and has been grossly misrepresented by the media. (Apple does not collect this data, because they sent it to you in the first place)
Arrgh, not again :) In this case, A-GPS only means that satellite status and orbit information comes from an assistance server on the internet. It does not require cell or wifi info to work. Those are separate methods. The correct term for the combination of them is "hybrid locating system".

Not sure if this is even a jb problem or not, but I'm on 4.3.2 untethered.
Anyway yesterday my phone icon was grayed out, rebooted, was fine. Today its safari. Either way, the respective programs worked to full capability as far as I know... was just curious if anybody knows why they are grayed out/see thru/dim, or if anybody else has been experiencing too?

My advice as a designer - CUT & RUN!
There will be other clients to replace this a-hole.
Hi. Thanks for the support. The only good thing about the whole experience is that it's served as kind of a wake up call for me, regarding how I want to handle pricing and clients in the future. :)

I'm not a one-dimensional eco-freak, but I would like to see more economical cars on the road. ............................
Neither am I. It's just that so many models don't come to the US market although they are innovative and successful in Europe. Mostly hatchbacks, wagons and modern crossovers (e.g. Ford Kuga) are missing. Even premium cars from Mercedes or BMW often come only in quite unattractive versions.
And the engine choices suck because there are so many stupid people here who believe only a V6 or a V8 is a good engine while a TDI or a turbocharged 4 cylinder can have the same or better performance. Especially since you can't drive fast here anyway.

Of course it's for the protection of the public, but it's also not supposed to be a pleasant experience, it's supposed to suck. If you don't think that, i don't know what else to tell you, you're just too separated from reality at this point to turn back.
I'm not separated from reality; in fact I'd suggest that I'm much closer than you are, having spent quite a bit of time employed by the agency I quoted, in a prison, surrounded by inmates living that life.
Imprisonment in most institutions is unpleasant by its very nature. If you don't think that, I'd suggest watching some documentaries on prison life.

i pre-ordered mine at the beginning of october, and got it this morning (engraving and all--wow, small engraving font!). very positive first impression.
i can see why some people complain about the clip at first: you expect it to be like a binder clip. i think apple's design is actually fine. there's a decent amount of force when the clip is wide open, and then when it's almost closed there's less force, the majority of its fastening power being supplied by the overlapping "teeth." for its intended use--clipping to clothes--i think it's great. whether it will clip successfully to other materials i think depends on the thickness (thicker is better up to a quarter inch or so), pliability (so the teeth can catch some material), and whether there is a thicker edge to catch onto. works flawlessly clipped on a shirt collar, any pocket, a flap with a thick edge, belt loop, anything you can clip it onto pointing down, etc. not so great on pinches of fine fabric. of course there's barely any weight to jostle it off. i expect no problems.
sound quality of course is fine. haven't bought an ipod since '03, so i was pleasantly surprised by the "old" headphones' cord adjuster (you can cinch it up so that the left/right cords are held together up to a point of your choosing--is that new?). i ordered one of those pairs of logitech bluetooth headphones that are super cheap on account of their fragility, and am very excited to try to rig up a cordless gym-going system.
the little dock is quite nice. pleasantly weighty for such a tiny form factor, and has a bottom surface that really seems to grip my desk, which is great--reassures you that it won't blow away or tip over.
i think once again apple's done a great job of providing more control and info than you would expect out of such a simple interface. my favorite example: hitting the "play/pause" button three times takes you to a random song (in shuffle mode), or to the first song in your list (in standard mode--very useful!) this is probably not new, but i didn't know about it before and like it a lot. you can also press and hold the play/pause button to toggle the hold mode (shutting off responsiveness of the buttons). and unplugging headphones automatically pauses playback.
itunes 7.0.2 worked great to load it up (though being used to my 3rd gen ipod i miss the speed of firewire). now when i plug in the shuffle there are two tabs at the top of the content window--one for settings and one for content.
so overall i love it. if forced, i could come up with 1.5 complaints. 1) the engraving is kind of hard to read--small, part of it just slightly fuzzy. .5) though i totally don't expect it to slip from wherever i clip it, i would probably feel more secure if the clip were a bit stronger.

Sorry for the hijack here but I bought it when he tried to sell me on something less money. Maybe it was him pushing the other brand. :o
I have the Cuisinart Ice Cream maker and it's ok. The kitchenaid will be much better, just turn your freezer temp as low as it will go and leave the churn in there for about a day, I usually do for at least 24 hours. The Cuisinart only works on one speed so when the mixture starts to really firm up you can't whip it harder to incorporate air. Besides, why have something that only does one thing? ;) A kitchenaid will last literally forever, you'll have to put it in your will.
